ABOUT FRC
"You have teenagers thinking they're going to make millions as NBA stars when that's not realistic for even 1 percent of them. Becoming a scientist or engineer is."
Dean Kamen
FRC is a high school program in which students build a robot for an objective that changes each year. Each team is given a kit of parts and a common set of rules. A team consists of high school aged students and professional engineers who give up lots of time and energy in order to help the high school students learn advanced engineering concepts. FRC was founded by Dean Kamen, inventor of the Segway, in 1989 and started with only 28 teams but has since expanded into a program with more than 2,000 teams.
